Dr. Silke Stöber

Dr. Silke Stöber

Dr. Silke Stöber has more than 28 years of professional experience in international cooperation with long-term experience in Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. She researches and lectures at the Centre for Rural Development (SLE) of the Humboldt-Universität zu Ber¬lin. Her working approach is interdisciplinary, participatory, enabling, and action- and solution-oriented. Food and nutrition security in a changing climate, and improved livelihoods of small-scale family farms worldwide are major interests of the German agricultural economist, who obtained her PhD from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. From her research in Kenya, she learned about the nutritive value of African indigenous vegetables and their use. With her colleagues in Indonesia, she develops the methodologies of climate field labs, an extension approach, in which farmers and scientists co-produce knowledge on adapting to climate change and promoting agroecology. In the future, she would like to collaborate with more and new partners on co-research with smallholder farmers.
