Sylvester Oikeh [Kenya] is a Program Manager/Senior Maize Scientist at AATF, Kenya, with more than 37 years of interdisciplinary experience in research-and-development in Agriculture covering natural resources management, crop improvement and deployment, and plant nutrition. He received B. Agric. in Horticulture in 1985 and M.Sc. in Crop Science in 1989 from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. He obtained his PhD in Soil Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria in 1997 and Post-Graduate Diploma in Irrigation Engineering from Katholieke Universiteit, Belgium in 1989. He worked for five years as a Principal Scientist/Soil-Fertility Agronomist and Project Leader in AfricaRice prior to joining AATF. He was a Postdoc-Fellow at Cornell University, USA, where he established for the first time, link between enhanced iron and zinc in maize grains with improvement in human nutrition. He also held various positions at IITA, Nigeria for over ten years. He currently coordinates the operational management and monitors implementation of WEMA/TELA Program since 2009.
