Wangari Maathai taught African women to plant trees
The world is sad about the passing away of Wangari Maathai, who taught African women that planting trees is a way to preserve the earth. Maathai, Africa's first female Nobel Peace Prize winner, was one of Kenya's most beloved figures. The Kenyan environmentalist won the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize for her work on sustainable development, democracy and peace.
