COVID-19

In a quiet and dusty room
My heart bleeds
For all the people
Young and old, forlom as ashes
In the rarity of their homes
From the fear of the deadly COVID-19
Casting shadows among the different nations

Immersed in muted misery
People’s lives are taken away by COVID-19
Parents die, leaving behind orphans
At the mercy of scavengers
Economies of nations are at stake
Restricted movement and lockdown
All bring about poverty to the lowlife
And the daily hustlers

In pain I stand firm
For the sake of my brothers and sisters
Ready to defeat COVID-19
Through prayers, we all can
Prayer changes things
Worry changes nothing
Let’s unite and stand firm
To defeat COVID-19

FOOD SECURITY

In this brown husk
Thoughts criss-cross my mind
Stuck in perplexity
At the decease of our population
Economy being at stake
Resulting in food shortage

In silent distress and mired musk
The government should support
Encourage afforestation, reforestation and agroforestry
Which bring about rain
Essential for germination and sprouting
Provide lessons to farmers
To improve their skills

I cherish the memory of those days
Our grandparents planted persistent crops
Cassavas, potatoes, yams and arrowroots
Helped in dry seasons
There was no hunger
Food was secured

The government should come up with organizations
Provide support to farmers
Donate agricultural products
Improve farmer skills
There will be plenty of foods
Next will be food security

COVID-19

Neighbor said it is a nightmare
Mom said it is a fantasy
But I know it is a reality
In Kenya it came
Like it wanted fame
Was known to young, old and teen

Hoping for the best
And preparing for the worst
Before us it damage
We together we can manage

By wearing a face mask
Home we stay dawn to dusk
One another we keep distance
COVID-19 we will defeat in advance

Our hands with soap we wash
The virus we throw as trash
Yes a real monster it is
Our government has no peace

Scientists say there is no cure
God will help for sure
Let’s together with no delay
To God fast and pray

Contact with infected person you get
This information you need to take
General hygiene you maintain
And our health will remain

FOOD SECURITY

Our youths turn to worst
All in search of money
To buy what they can eat
Many living from hand to mouth
Food being a problem to all

Our government trying to fight
Importing millions of maize bags
Being kept in national granary
To make sure all are not hungry
She has formulated a policy
To ensure food security

Lowering transport costs
For food prices to be affordable
Infrastructure being developed
For trained extension officers
To give skills to all despite social class

She has begun organizations
Some giving loans to farmers
Others providing skills to people
Like 4-K club and One acre fund
To ensure all have bread on their tables

Food being accessed by all
Young, low, middle and high class
Country will be in peace
And Kenya will grow
